Welcome to the Miss Mount Pleasant Scholarship Program!

Our program is an official preliminary competition to the Miss Iowa Scholarship Program! Those who are awarded titles at our program will go on to represent the Mount Pleasant area at Miss Iowa. Miss Iowa is a state preliminary to Miss America. Whoever is lucky enough to become Miss Iowa will then go on to represent our state at the Miss America Competition! Every Miss America starts her journey at a local competition like Miss Mount Pleasant.

Savvy Shields went from Miss Heart of the Ozarks, to Miss Arkansas, to Miss America 2017!

Not only will Miss Mount Pleasant get to go to Miss Iowa, but she will also have this title for an entire year. At the end of this year, she will then pass on her title to the next young lady. During Miss Mount Pleasant's year, she will attend community events, raise funds, volunteer, and, most importantly, she will advocate for her Social Impact Initiative.

A Social Impact Initiative is a cause that the titleholder has chosen that is near and dear to her heart. This is something that she will use her position as a public figure to improve upon. Her Social Impact Initiative can be whatever cause the competitor chooses to support. Some examples are mental health, Type 1 Diabetes, food insecurity, literacy rates, and much much more!

This is only scratching the surface when it comes to explaining what the Miss Mount Pleasant Organization is all about. I wanted to bring a Miss Iowa local competition to this area for many reasons. Not only did I grow up in Mount Pleasant, but I was also heavily impacted by the robust music and drama programs available to me in school. To me, Mount Pleasant is the perfect environment for a program like this to thrive! Not only do we have a bunch of teenagers living here that would be perfect for Miss Iowa's Outstanding Teen, but we also have Iowa Wesleyan University in our town! The Miss America Organization is first and foremost a scholarship organization, and is the number one provider of scholarships to women in our country. With the amount of talented musicians on IWU's campus, there are bound to be tons of women who would highly benefit from these scholarship opportunities!

I am very excited to welcome you all to the birth of our brand new Miss Iowa local preliminary. I love this community and I know how supportive all of you are!
