Bringing Miss America to Mount Pleasant
The public perception of the Miss America is often that it’s a one-night telecast focused entirely around beauty, but in reality, it’s so much more. This unique program is a year-round opportunity for women to earn scholarships, grow their networks, learn valuable life and career skills, and make a difference in their communities. For over 100 years, Miss America has been committed to empowering the advocates and leaders of tomorrow, and now those same opportunities are coming to the people of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Meet Emily
Hi, I'm Emily, the Executive Director of the Miss Mount Pleasant Scholarship Program! I started competing in the Miss America Organization in 2017 and I knew, even back then, that I wanted to create a Miss Mount Pleasant competition one day. Mount Pleasant has been largely influential for my love of music and performing. From a young age, I loved to sing and I had so many teachers throughout my time growing up in the Mount Pleasant School District that encouraged my participation in the arts. Now that I'm able to, I want to return the favor and provide a way for young women in Mount Pleasant to perform and nurture their talents.
I know how supportive the Mount Pleasant community is, and I cannot wait to show you all just how fantastic the Miss America Organization can be for our town!
